The Rotary Club of Greater Portage County will
hold its fifth annual Heart of Wisconsin Kite
Festival on Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 11:00
a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Portage County Business
Park. The kite flyers will locate at the north
end of the park between the railroad tracks and
Boldt Construction. The kite festival is a
family-oriented event with several activities
going on throughout the day. Kiters from around
Wisconsin are expected to fly an interesting
variety of kites.
In addition, there will be a workshop for
children to make their own kites. The
kite-building workshop will provide materials at
no charge as well as instruction on making a
simple kite that a child can enjoy that day and
take home. Members of the Wisconsin Kiters will
provide demonstrations of different types of
kites. The public is invited to just come and
observe or bring their own kite to fly. A
variety of kites will be available for sale by
Unique Flying Objects (UFO) of Two Rivers, WI.
The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of
Greater Portage County, who will have
refreshments available for sale. In the event of
stormy weather or very high winds, the event
will be cancelled.
April is National Kite Month. Bring the whole
family for an afternoon of fun and learning!
